Majoring In The Minors (Luke 6:1-11)

A.W. Tozer said "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."  How do you picture Jesus?  How does much of modern Christianity?  As a Mr. Milquetoast (super timid)??  In Lk. 6:1-11 Jesus is fired up, angry in fact, AT church, ON the Sabbath!  Why?!  The Pharisees were "Majoring in the Minors" --> tradition >> Word of God, rules & regs >> love & mercy for people made in the image of God!  Even worse?!  They were shutting the Kingdom of Heaven in people's faces & showing themselves to not only be wrong but also to be outside the Kingdom itself by doing so!!  Temptation for God's people today = still "Major in the Minors" (tradition, rules & regs).  Jesus majored in the majors (the Word, people) & those whose desire it is to follow Him must do the same!  Grab your Bible, a notebook and pen and listen up as Pastor Buffy Cook teaches from Luke 6 and as we see that Jesus still calls us today to "Go and learn what this means, I desire MERCY and not sacrifice."

Lots of churches that's who - budget gets tighter, attendance gets smaller, God's people get slacker! We need to ensure that zeal for the Lord & His House continues to burn hot within us! We need to take some time to examine & potentially reorder our spiritual priorities - 1st Things 1st! The prophet Haggai was faced with a similar task and has timely words for God's people still today no matter their age as we "Consider Our Ways" and "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness" (Mt. 6:33) no matter the season!!

Touching The Untouchable (Luke 5:12-16)
