Mention the word or the act of baptism and it's mass confusion, a gazillion questions! "Who should we baptize?" "Who can perform baptism?" "Why is it necessary - obedience or salvation?" "How should we baptize - sprinkle or immersion?" "What's the whole point, it's meaning - mere picture, tame religious ritual?" God is not the author of confusion and so if confusion exists with regards to baptism, it's because man is the author of such and because we have exchanged God's truth for man's truth! What has God revealed in His Word with regards to baptism, and thus what are we to believe & practice? What constitutes BIBLICAL Baptism?! Could it be one of our greatest sins is not voting Democrat or Republican, not porn or alcohol or drugs, but simply not in this life praising our loved ones for all they are & all they do?! Paul admonishes us... in Phil. 4:8 "if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." In other words, if you find something/someone praise - worthy you should PRAISE that something/someone!! Even if things are going FANTASTIC in our relationships (marriage, courting), sin and its dangers are always lurking, dangers Solomon calls "little foxes that spoil the vineyards." It is for this reason that God, speaking through Solomon, issues a VERY strong word about this danger to out relationship - CATCH the foxes! Catch is an imperative, a COMMAND! NOT a suggestion to consider but an expectation to obey! Happy & healthy relationships MUST be protected (John 10:10a). But what do these little foxes look like?! In this message, we explore 7 of the more common "species" that have harmed & destroyed far too many marriages!

Courtship & dating are some of the least discussed topics in the church. Hosea 4:6 says "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." The lack of teaching on this topic has had & is having disastrous consequences - great havoc, destroyed countless lives, numerous unwanted pregnancies, even split churches! We NEED the Word of God as a lamp to our feet & a light to our path! What we find is that d...ating (in the modern sense) is unbiblical; courtship is Biblical but what is Biblical courtship?! How do we as followers of Christ engage in courtship in a Biblical way, honoring & glorifying God and leaving both parties obedient to the Word?! Romance novels are BIG business to Americans! They are bestsellers ($1.08B in 2013...aka $34/sec), they are read for entertainment & escape & relaxation, and the #1 factor in buying is THE STORY! Romance novels (actually novel) should be BIG business to Christians! Smack dab in the middle of the Best Selling Book of All Time (YOUR Bible) God has put the creme-de-la-creme romance novel, the Song of Songs! Unlike modern romance novels... 1) It's not there just for the ladies - God expects each & every one of us to read it & commit it to heart! 2) It's not there just for entertainment & relaxation but to Instruct God's People & Exalt God's Son. Yet like modern romance novels, the SOS is also about THE STORY - the story of 2 young lovers as they meet, are attracted to one another, fall in love, get married and live happily-ever-after, right?! Sorta! As they Leave, Cleave & Weave just as God designed - from Anticipation: The Courtship (Leave) to Consummation: The Wedding (Cleave) to Celebration: The Marriage (Weave)! First up is The Courtship: Attraction. Given we find ourselves in a culture simultaneously obsessed with sex & relationships but clearly dysfunctional in our approaches to them and that the church has been red-faced & embarrassed to even discuss the subject of SEX, we desperately need some good Biblical advice on love, dating, marriage, sex & romance. What is it that draws folks to Easter?! More Americans Google search for church around Easter than at any other time; Gallup polls show over a 20 percentage point increase in church attendance at Easter than a typical week. Is it not THE POWER OF HOPE?! Hope of newness of life (Spring); Hope of eternal life (Jesus' Resurrection). Peter, the apostle of hope, understood this well and in his 1st Epistle wrote to beleaguered Christians offering them a good shot of hope that they might live victoriously amidst hardship & hostility. One thing I can guarantee you from Easter 2016 - Easter 2017, you WILL yourself face hardship as well (physical and/or spiritual). In this message I unpack 1 Peter 1:3-5 that we may manifest the LIVING HOPE that Peter writes about in our lives today, tomorrow & the day after that we too may live victoriously in light of Jesus' Resurrection!!!

Passion is a BIG DEAL in America. Hollywood movies, every soap opera, 1000's of books promote it. It's ALL OVER the Internet and our TV's - we're currently in the middle of March MADNESS! It's as if we think it's appropriate to be enthusiastic, to be excited, to have a passion for everything...EXCEPT GOD! Take a big time sporting event - folks cheering, high-fiving, hugging perfect strangers and we call 'em FANS...do that in church and we call 'em FANATICS (or worse)!! Yet, passion SHOULD BE a BIG DEAL spiritually!! St. Irenaeus said, "The glory of God is a human being FULLY ALIVE." (aka FULL of PASSION) Jesus was crystal clear about living with passion (Mk. 12:30-31) and literally said lukewarmness made him wanna puke (Rev. 3:15-16)! As new Christians most all of us start out that way - fully alive, full of passion; then we run outta gas. Paul warned against this (Rom. 12:11); Jesus gave us a Rx to combat this. Need your PASSION battery recharged?! In this message I unpack 6 ways Jesus taught us to keep the fire alive!!!
