I preached this message in celebration of our church's 12th Anniversary. Using Joshua 4 as the background passage, we reflected on God's faithfulness by taking a look back, a look around and a look ahead. For each of those, we memorialized God's faithfulness in the lives of the Israelites, in the lives of NT believers, and in our own lives today (corporately and personally).

Missions is a massive why of the church! Yet sadly, many Christians and churches are not missions minded. As it's been said, the Great Commission has become the Great Omission - the church instead of taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth won't even take it to the end of the street! It's time we WAKE UP! CARPE DIEM 2015 by Get Going & fulfilling the Great Commission. As we examine the Great Commission this AM that we might fulfill it, we'll see that it was Great in it's Authority, Mandate, Mission, Power, Scope & Promise.

Morally, America is on life-support; unfortunately her church is as well (record lows in attendance, not making transformational impact in lives). The reason? Both have abandoned the Word of God! And so the only way America will grow stronger, the only way our local church will grow stronger is as we, corporately and individually, take our B vitamin, the Bible! If we are going to seek to Carpe Diem! 2015 and make the best use of our time by seeking to GET 'EM STRONGER, we MUST rightly handle the Word of God; as we do soon it'll be evident in our thinking & in our living.

Mark 2 is the beautiful story of the call of Matthew and where we are introduced to Jesus, The Great Physician, who reminds us of the truth that He was a mobile hospital for sinners! And so to Carpe Diem! 2015 right here in our church and GET 'EM HEALTHY in 2015, we MUST be a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints - where hearts are transplanted, brokenness is healed and bodies get a proper diet and exercise!!

One of the biggest ministry mistakes churches in America will make in 2015 is waiting on people to show up to their church to get saved & plugged in. In Luke 14, Jesus tells a parable whose application will prevent us from making that mistake as it teaches us that in order to get people in, we MUST go out! And so to Carpe Diem! 2015 right here in our church, we use that passage to teach us the ABCDEs of GET 'EM IN!!!

Carpe Diem! 2015 - Week 1

This next year, countless Christians and lots of churches will sleep walk their way through 2015! Like many things, this is an age old problem and so Paul told the Roman believers in the 1st century in Rom. 13:11: "Another reason for right living is this: you know how late it is; time is running out. WAKE UP, for the coming of the Lord is nearer now than when we first believed." And the Ephesian believers in Eph. 5:16: "Make the most of every opportunity." Seize the moment! Carpe Diem!
And so over the next several weeks we're going to seek to do just that - in our personal lives, in our church and in our homes - through our Carpe Diem! 2015 sermon series. First up, Week 1, in our personal lives - to rightly bring in 2015 we should commit ourselves to walk carefully - NOT as unwise, but as wise; NOT as foolish but as understanding; NOT as drunk but as filled.
